When I started, it was all on-the-job learning. I shadowed the lead instructors, just observing and repeating their advice. Speaking in front of a class didn’t come naturally - especially in a male-dominated industry. At first, I was timid, but over time, I found my voice. Now, when I see someone hesitate - whether it’s activating ABS for the first time or trusting themselves to slide - I know exactly how to guide them, step by step.
It all began when I signed up for a circuit night at the track. After an exhilarating evening, I returned the tracking device and posted a thank-you story online, tagging the team. A few days later, I got a call from James, owner of Driving Solutions. He asked how I enjoyed the night and, after a conversation, said, "If you impress me, would you consider a job as an instructor?" I couldn’t believe it - I said yes right away.
WHY I TEACH
To be honest, I never imagined I’d become a driving instructor. It was never on my radar - until James called. Once I thought about it, though, it felt like a dream. Drifting is tough to make a full career out of - most pros have side gigs - but this gave me a chance to combine my passion with purpose. I don’t just drift; I help others find confidence behind the wheel - skills that might one day save their lives.
LOOKING AHEAD
I’m just getting started. Every day I grow a little more - learning new techniques, new ways to communicate, and deepening my own car knowledge. My goal? To keep pushing forward - whether it’s drifting, circuit racing, or defensive driving. I want to be the best instructor I can be, so that every student I guide walks away with confidence, skill, and that same spark I had on my first night at the track.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEACHING
The best part? Every student’s success is a spark that ignites my own passion. When they nail a slide or overcome their fear of ABS, I feel that same rush again - like I’m that student in the driver’s seat for the first time. Teaching is more than a job; it’s a way for me to share this joy and give people skills they’ll carry for life.
